There is love, laughter and whisky galore in veteran social realistic director Ken Loach's most recent film, an unusually drama about delinquent youths from Glasgow defying the odds society has stacked against them. The sunny tone, plus the tourist- friendly blend of Scotch whisky and picture-postcard Scottish scenery, looks sure to earn Loach a wider audience than usual. The charm of the film comes ultimately from its heart-warming celebration of kindness, friendship and forgiveness. Winner of the Jury Prize at last year's Cannes Film Festival, it has a warm-heartedness that's widely appealing and a sense of humor (and style of speaking) that?s distinctly Scottish. (R, 101 mins.)
